    I. WARM UP (5 minutes)
    * Game: “Pass the teddy bears”
    Hello. I'm (Ben). / Hi, (Ben). I'm (Mai).
    How are you? / - Fine, thank you.
    + Objectives: To help the students review the
    sentence patterns about greeting each other and
    responding to each other's greetings with
    thanks.
    + Procedures
    - Tell students how the game is played. Give an
    example.
    - Give two different colored teddy bears to two
    students, a white teddy bear (greet and ask the
    question) and a black teddy bear (greet and
    answer the question).
    - Ask students to listen to music and pass the
    balls.
    - Stop music suddenly.
    - Have the student with a white teddy bear greet
    and ask a question. Have the student with a
    black teddy bear greet and answer the question.
    e.g. Student A: Hello. I'm Nam.
    Student B: Hi, Nam. I'm Mai.
    Student A: How are you?
    Student B: Fine, thank you.
    - Praise students if they do the activity well.

    - Have students look at Pictures a and b and
    identify the characters in the pictures by asking
    some questions.
     Who are they?
     Guess what they are talking about.
    - Ask students to look at Picture a. Play the
    recording for them to listen.
    - Play the recording again, sentence by

    - Ask students to look at the pictures and
    identify the name of each character.
    - Play the recording for students to listen to and
    repeat the words under the pictures in chorus
    and individually until they feel confident.
    - Model Picture a. Draw students' attention to
    the speech bubbles and elicit the missing word
    by pointing at Picture a. Play the recording for
    students to listen to and repeat the sentences in
    both bubbles a few times.
    - Repeat Step 3 with the other pictures. Then let
    students practise asking and answering
    questions in pairs. Go around the classroom to
    offer help if necessary.
    - Invite a few pairs to point at the pictures and
    ask and answer questions about names.
    - Praise students if they practise well.
    IV. PRODUCTION (8 minutes)
    * Let's talk. (page 16)
    + Objectives: To help the students enhance the
    correct use of the sentence patterns to ask and
    answer questions about names in a freer
    context.
    + Procedures
    - Picture cue: Two students greet each other
    outside school.

    - Draw students' attention to the picture in
    Activity 3. Ask questions to help them identify
    the context.
     What can you see in the picture?
    - Elicit the missing words in the speech bubbles
    and write them on the board. Get students to
    say the completed sentences.
    - Put students in groups of four to ask and
    answer questions about names. Go around the
    classroom to offer support where necessary.
    - Invite some pairs to practise asking and
    answering questions about names in front of the
    class and correct their pronunciation where
    necessary.
    - Give encouragement to the students'
    performance.
    * Preparation for the project
    - Tell students about the project on page 21.
    - Ask students to prepare for the project at
    home by making paper birthday cakes or
    drawing birthday cakes (with numbers showing
    their ages) as homework.
    - Remind students to bring their products to
    class to present them at Project time in Lesson
    3, Activity 6.
    * FUN CORNER AND WRAP-UP (5
    minutes)
    Game: “Blow up balloons”
    - Tell students how the game is played. Give an
    example.
    - Divide the class into 2 groups.
    - Let students choose a balloon by its color.
    Ask students to answer the questions. If their
    answers are correct, they get points for their
    groups.
    - The winning group is the group with more
    points.
    - Praise the winner.

    STUDENTS' ACTIVITIES
    - Look at the picture in Activity 3. Identify the
    context.
    - Say the completed sentences.
    - Work in in groups of four to ask and answer
    questions about names.
    - Practise asking and answering questions about
    names in front of the class.

    - Listen to the teacher's instructions.
    - Prepare for the project at home by making

    + Objectives: To help the students listen to and

    pronunciation if necessary.

    exchanges. Draw their attention to the missing
    words in the sentences.
    - Model Picture 1. Have students look at the
    dialogue. Ask them what is missing in the
    answer (Lucy). Ask them to look at the picture
    and identify the character's name. Then have
    them complete the gap (Hi. My name's Nam.
    What's your name? - My name's Lucy.).
    - Give students time to do the task
    independently. Go around the classroom to
    offer help where necessary.
    -  Get students to swap books with a partner
    and check their answers before checking as a
    class. Nominate a student to write the answers
    on the board.
    - Invite four pairs of students to read two

    + Objectives: To help the students review the
    characters' names by playing the game “Slap

    correct Flashcards / words as quickly as
    possible.
    - Put the Flashcards of the six students on the
    board.
    - Call two students to the front of the class. Ask
    them to stand at a certain distance from the
    board.
    - Invite one student to the front of the class and
    ask “What's your name?”. The student answers

    - Have the class play the game.
    - Invite one or two groups to perform in the
    front of the class. Praise students to encourage
    their performance.
