Unit 4 - Lesson 2 – GRAMMAR (P1)
I. Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
+ Lesson objective: understand how to express likes and dislikes, practice speaking with
friends in class using the sentence pattern “I like (salad)./I don't like (fish)” with a
positive attitude.
1. Previous knowledge: vocabulary about fruits: bananas, oranges, fish, salad, rice
Students know: greeting, introducing, telling about fruits.
2. Competence
Me: Recognize the importance of using sentence pattern in communication.
Act: Apply the sentence pattern “I like …/ I don't like …” to talk about colours, toys,
hobbies, etc.
3. Communication/ collaboration: Work together to identify and talk about fruits
using “I like …/ I don't like …”.
Students with disabilities can review vocabulary about fruits: bananas, oranges,
fish, salad, rice and talk about their hobby follow their friends.
II. Materials required for the lesson: Pupil's book, Workbook, power point,
TV/projector, CD, song, flash cards, …

Grammar: Sentence pattern: I like (salad). / I don't like
(fish).
Show the pictures of “I like salad” with happy face and “I
don't like salad” with sad face on the slide, then say
sentences and do the actions: “I like salad” – (Thumb up)/
“I don't like salad” – (Thumb down). Ask Ss to say and
show Thumb up/ Thumb down. Show some pictures and
ask Ss to practice.
Practice
5 minutes GAME 1: “Board race”
- Divide class into 2 teams. Draw 2 faces with eyes on the
board for 2 teams, show Ss how to draw a smile/frown for
like/dislike. Call on 2 Ss to come up to play. Say either
“LIKE” or “DISLIKE” and Ss race to draw the correct face,
whoever finished first gets one star.

GAME 2: “Bingo”
pieces of Ask Ss to write the name of 2 foods (bananas, oranges,

salad, fish, rice) and draw a sad or smiley face next to each
food. Call out a food word, Ss who have that food say
“Bingo! Bingo!” and use the structure to say “I like …” if
they draw a smile/ “I don't like…” if they draw a frown.
- Give a star for each correct answer.
